After taking the decision not to try for the outright trike speed record this year, it is a case of getting the Punisher finished and show ready. The backend was not completed with the Nitron shocks in time for the records weekend, even with all the efforts of Casarva. Along with the shocks there are a couple of issues to sort with the wing and exhaust, plus the fitting of a 47 !! yes 47 tooth rear sprocket, it's like a dinner plate. The rear sprocket for the records weekend was the biggest I had at 42 teeth but still I could not pull more than 4th gear flat out. Going bigger increases acceleration but reduces top speed but with 2 more gears to go it's a win-win situation. I had originally asked Casarva for a 46 but when they went to Renthal for the blank they were told that Radical Sports Cars had been in and bought the lot !!!! My life !! So 47 it is.
I have mentioned in earlier posts about the issues transporting a trike, every option be it riding, trailers, vans or beavertails all have their downsides. The best option is to be able to use a Luton bodied van but how best to get a 360Kg trike into a Luton van. After much thinking, plotting and planning then scrapping it all because of practicalities and timescales we came up with the solution below. Adam, Tania you're a pair of stars although I can't think of anything else you would rather have been doing on the first day of your holiday than this ??
As Steve from Casarva put it " That is a piece of engineering ! "
Two days of painting later and it looks like this !
We are now self-sufficient and can transport the Punisher without needing to call in help from far and wide. We are ready for the next Peterborough run.
